I had the opportunity to go back and watch the game between Baylor and Cincinnati. What a battle. Cincinnati went into Waco and gave Baylor a real fight trying to get the upset without their top shooter. If you missed it, you missed a good one.
Both teams has some good actions throughout the game. Let's take a look at a couple of the actions.
Baylor - Weave Ball Screen
Baylor used a weave action that was more like a circle action with 4 players around the center to setup a double ball screen action. When they forced the guard over the screen it allowed for the lob on drop coverage with a shooter shaped up on the top. When the defender goes under the second screen quickly it takes away the roll/lob option. The guards job is to read who covers in help and make the correct pass to the spaced out shooters.
Cincinnati - Back Screen the Elbow
Cincinnati did a great job fighting hard in the contest and played out of the elbow area with their bigs. There were different actions mixed into this concept. One that found success was the back screen of the big on the elbow by a perimeter player opening up a 3 point shot and or the lob.
