The Lancer Legacy is the culture we created for Lancer basketball. It was created so we could help students by visualizing the culture and the process by which we try to achieve it. We have a mission that drives the process daily.
"Relentlessly fighting for championships daily to pursue and sustain a legacy."
The Lancer Legacy is a process wrapped around the our Core Values and our Standards of Behavior. These are, in essence, the heart of the process and a part of every area of the process. It is a process that is not linear. It is circular. The movement of development is in both directions building on itself. They are all affected by the Core Values and Standards of Behavior. The areas of focus cover many areas of the athlete's development. The true north of the process is Life Growth - Character, Christian Walk, Community. It is through Life Growth that all the different processes can be influenced. The other areas that are influenced by Life Grow are Player Development, Physical Player Development, Team Unity, Team Development, and Championship Play.
Player Development is wrapped around mastering the fundamentals and then stretching those skills by developing them to there fullest.
Physical Player Development is the concept of improving the physical self. Development of strength and then using that strength to convert it into athletic ability.
Team Unity is the culture driven process. It is important that our culture is in place so we can be a team of One. One heart. One objective. One team.
Team Development can cultivate the unity and the unity of a team can improve the team development. This is the system of the program and all the knowledge and strategy that goes with it. As the team develops the ceiling for their ability to preform climbs.
Championship Play is about the process. It isn't about the outcome. As we all know, to be a champion there are a number of factors that have to fall in line. It isn't just about the players and the strategy. It is important to understand that Championship Play is the goal and is, in and of itself, success.
Being one's best is the success we have to search for as a team.
All the areas are needed for complete development. We want to focus on more than just basketball, and basketball can only go as high as the ceiling the character of a player will allow. In the end, it is about developing the best people because they make great players. Those players will influence the world in everything they do.
